Fellow Readers, Misty Wrights here!
Born and raised in North Carolina, I've enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember, often writing short stories and performing full sitcom shows with my dolls. Pursuing writing became my childhood dream, however, I was advised to pursue an alternative route, and for a long time, it remained a hobby.
Never able to fully get away from this passion, writing poetry was one of my favorite ways to use my voice. This love helped fuel the establishing of East Carolina University's first ever poetry organization alongside a group of trusted friends.
Earning a Bachelors Degree in Family and Community Services, I served the community of Onslow County as the director of the homeless shelter, helping individuals and families regain housing, employment, and life development skills. Raised in a family who believed in the importance and strength of a village, the first concept I would stress most in my counseling was
the importance of establishing strong, trustworthy relationships.
As a military spouse, my family was moved to Virginia, and during this time, I
earned a Masters Degree in Counseling for Marriage and Family from Liberty
University. With my growing family, I was awarded the opportunity to be a
stay-at-home mother, and actively foster the establishment of healthy values
and communication skills into my children, as I learned and matured in
those same areas myself.
In February of 2022, tragedy struck my family in a way that promised to change our lives forever. And for a few months, I walked through life on what felt like
auto-pilot. As a firm believer in Jesus Christ, holding to my faith and trusting in Him was essential for survival. And during this dark time, I had the opportunity
to get to know God as, "El Kol"; 'kol' being the Hebrew word 'everything'. Essentially, I experienced the "God of Everything" because that's exactly what I needed Him to be.
Receiving immeasurable support from friends and family, both blood and from
the church, I began to feel my strength and desire to live, return. In
the process of recovery, I said a prayer that I didn't know would shift my life again.
I asked the Lord to return to me the things inside that died. Of the various pursuits
I believed the Lord would return, He answered my prayer with one simple passion.
Writing. This time, however, it was more than writing to simply pass the time, but actually pursuing writing as I once desired to do as a child.
Grateful for the anchored relationship in Christ, and seeing the love and loyalty
poured out from my village of supporters, the value of relationships is a concept
I hold to grand esteem. Humbled to be a part of an incredible local assembly of believers in Christ, I am awarded the opportunity to teach God's Word, and work with various departments and teams that encourage the growth of relationship with self, others, and with Christ.
Today, as a wife of a retired Marine, and incredible husband, and mother of 5 amazing children, I still believe in the sanctity of true love. Not the distortions
and misconceptions portrayed by social media and Hollywood movies, but true Agape love that the Holy Bible describes; Love that is patient and kind, that isn't envious or prideful: Love that doesn't behave rudely, or is self-centered. The love that isn't provoked or thinks evil. The type of love that doesn't rejoice in iniquity
but rejoices in what is true. The love that bears all things, hopes all things,
endures all things. Love that does not fail.
I am deeply honored by the way God answered my prayers; returning my passion for writing. And I dare not disrespect Him by burying the gift He gave. I am excited about the journey ahead, and I am proud to author and debut the first of what I hope to be many written compositions. 'The One Who Brought Peace' is a novel that eludes to the value of all types of beautiful relationships, and includes intimacy and romance. And I hope that every person who picks it up, enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Thank you for visiting my website, and I look forward to having you a part of my journey to share the beauty of strong relationships and the love of true love itself.
